so yesterday i accompanied my manager to Elevator Fight's show @ Le Poisson Rouge in NY, and i gotta say, the venue is fly. although i'm having second thoughts about a show there, i can't deny that i had fun. absolutely refused to spend money at that expensive-ass bar, though (shouts to Suzie's across the street - alabama slammer, devil's tail, and some other drink i can't remember but was yummy).

the show was awesome, as usual. with my new phone (hooray!) i got a few pictures, and my digital camera was cooperating more than usual, so i'm pretty pleased with that.

i'll be back to post photos later - i've got a meeting to head to, and then World Cafe Live downstairs.

busy lady...

sometimes you just have to disappear for a little while, and my escape was made ten times better by the fact that i have no phone. until tomorrow that is (jersey, here i come).

tomorrow night is Elevator Fight's show @ Le Poisson Rouge in NY! i'm excited - i rarely get to go to live shows out there. usually if i'm in the big apple it's for a party or something like that. i'll be driving up from the dirty and then fleeing back to philly after the show. pray for me, i'm running my body into the ground...

i'm trying to take some crazy photos tomorrow, if my camera cooperates. let's hope. :-D

shouts to all the people who've been texting to my AIM and e-mail addresses, especially just to brighten up my days almost entirely spent sitting in front of a computer. you guys are so cute. after noon tomorrow i will officially be back in the land of the virtually living - even if i lost all my contacts. so i'm putting it out there now - make sure you send me a text so i can get your numbers!

i'm legitimately tired - sunday night, i stayed up until sunrise and slept till noon; monday night, i didn't sleep at all into tuesday morning, when i hopped in my car for my one-day run-away before the sun came up fully... and now it's 2.15 and i'm still awake. i gots problems, apparently...

'night all! tonight i will definitely be falling asleep with a smile on my face.

Yo...

so Hip-Hop and Sushi was dope - even if our sushi got stolen. AKiLLES and the OddiCY rocked that show out, and the turnout was quite pleasing. there was so much going on that i actually had to be hunted down to announce Philly Slick, who did their thing. all in all, a very good time. and the open bar was a perfect touch.

AKiLLES did his 5th performance of the week on sunday @ Bag of Balloons, the Phrequency/McJawn block party. that was a hell of a lot of fun. Vanache and i found it was the perfect place to be a kid again (even if you were drinking whiskey the night before):

word. there was four square, grilling, dancing, facepaint... people brought their dogs... of course the sun was blazing, but there were so many people of all ages having a good time. i'd like to give a big shout out to the girl who opened her home to us - i never found out your name, but you were an awesome hostess.

i love these men; they make my day.

and Fame makes three... :-D

this little boy was crushin' on the mic. so cute!

Tiffany Yoon from Phrequency took some of the dopest photos i've seen of this event... check out the ill action shot she got of my boys from the band:

you can find the rest of the photos @ Phrequency.

in other news, my phone's gone, guys! that means that all the photos i wanted to post (or a decent amount of them) are gone, too. but maybe this will be incentive for me to finally replace my camera. and no tweeting. but that's okay. twitter is ruining my life anyway.

so i was talking to Mister Sungee the other night and he told me that Pino Palladino (who is responsible for most - if not all - of my ongoing adoration of bass guitar) played on the majority of the D'Angelo album Voodoo. i never knew that, and now i'm scouring the internet to find out more. Rah's always the one to drop knowledge on us whippa-snappas.

i've always loved lower register instruments and actually spent a long time playing one. i'm thinking about getting back into it... it's been a long time, but i guess i shouldn't stay away from music for too long, huh?

man, i am so exhausted. time to get to work...

Aw, Man.

i know i say this after every blogging hiatus, but...

so much has been going on.

we're getting ready for Hip-Hop & Sushi this saturday. my boy perry lassin did a dope video as promotion - check it out. this is the first event that i'm hosting in philly, and i couldn't be more excited! i wish my dress would hurry up and come in the mail, though. i've only got 24 hours!

last night emcee unless and willpowerless tore it down at north star bar. i got a few photos with my super-sexy cameraphone (that's sarcasm, guys), which i'll be posting soon, but the show was fly! i definitely have to get my hands on his CD, the rubik's cube exclusive. i missed my chance last night! silk city was PACKED afterward, too. had a little mishap - some of my philly boys don't know how to keep their hands to themselves - but mister manager handled it swiftly and deftly. i'm lucky to have a monster for a boss, real talk.

i'm still waiting on my boy V (who i ran into @ silk city last night) to post SuperDope flicks from this past wednesday - he kept trying to snap me on the sneak tip while i was talking to people and generally just acting silly, and i got a cute shot with him, too! i want to see how they all came out :) i was so surprised to see him without camera in hand last night, but it must be exhausting to be the man on the dope flicks all the time. sometimes you need a vacation.

did anybody hit up the open mic this past tuesday @ panda bar? i got a couple shots from that, too - AKiLLES and El Smooth really rocked it out. not sure people were ready, even the next night @ blue bananas cafe when they did it again. all improv - elliot making beats on the fly and then having AK freestyle over them is buuuuuuutterrr....

oh, man. hip-hop and sushi... preparing for this event has been kinda crazy. monday my stylist maxi hooked me up with a cute short style to kinda go with the aesthetic. nobody recognizes me with short hair - i've been confusing people all week! i ran into my boy abe on the way to rittenhouse square the other day and he skated past me looking at me like he knew me.

"hey! remember me?"

"maybe," he said, giving me the ill strangeface.

i shrugged it off and a couple blocks later i heard a skateboard fast approaching behind me - it was abe! and he couldn't figure out where he knew me from. when i finally reminded him (SuperDope!), he was like, "girl, you can't change it all up on me like that!"

my peoples are so silly.

alright, kiddies. it's time for miss lily to get to work - can't keep the boss waiting.

photos to come soon! mwahr...

it pains me to let go of such a fantastic weekend. but hopefully there are many more to come. holidays just make the weekends special, just some extra celebration to look forward to.

and fireworks!

but probably the best thing that happened this weekend was an impromptu rooftop concert/jam session. surrounded by fireworks from almost every point, some of the best musicians in philly jumping from one instrument to the next, amazingly chill people... and lots of beer.

AKiLLES on the mic with the
soulful sounds and freestyle hippity-hops...

Rick on the keys...
(Pretty Ricky what they call'im)...

Craig making it lovely on the strings and
Joe the Drum Machine on the beat...

Joe keeping it cool on the bass...
and the beer...

Khari came and jammed for a bit, too!

i'm putting the rest of the photos up at

sunday was such a cooled-out day with not too much work, and ended perfectly with my lying on the roof watching the sun go down and the city lights come on. no photos since i was feeling lazy and left my camera in the house, my bad.

something about that day made me feel like the luckiest girl in philly.

but time has to move on. all in all, i am more than pleased with my weekend. i wish i could do this every week.

holding auditions is a tiring process. i'm just glad i can take it at a moderate speed right now.

i'm looking for four ladies who would like to model and serve sushi for the next event, Hip-Hop & Sushi (because those... are two things you like) on July 25th @ Panda Bar. it's difficult - the ones i truly like are too young. some ladies aren't coming with the right attitude. some ladies aren't coming with the right walk.

whatever it is...

time to make it happen. lily's about style + dedication = results.

today's title is a quote from none other than Mama Delphia, trying to find out what i'm doing for the holiday. and as i replied to my man saz on the FB when he asked what I'm getting into for July 4th:

"EVERYTHING!"

so that past couple days have been nuts trying to get my life together (and everything else too) but i think i've got the hang of it. SuperDope has tuckered me out this past wednesday.

guilty. guilty guilty guilty.

the amount of love going around in that place is crazy. for example, random shot by my dude Vanache:

front to back, side to side, with Phsh killin' it heavy, that's pretty much what a typical SuperDope looks like. if you're ever feeling down on a wednesday, or like you need to get free, that's the place to step to.

the man himself taking shots of the party from up high...

i had to get a crazy close up of TuPhace's flyness...
just so ya'll would understand.
it's like that.

(either that or someone jostled my camera... which excuse will you accept?)

the party gods smiling down on the SuperDope family,
or V trying to take a picture of me taking a picture of him?
you decide.

FAME!
i love this man.
jammin' on the michael jackson set,
moonwalking across the floor,
had the ill leg kick-out...

OOH-WEE. SUPERDOPE.

thursday night was spent rockin' the door @ O.N.E., brandishing my VIP list and making people jealous. :-D

although i was too busy being Miss Lily (you know how it goes...) to get photos, i can personally tell you the ladies came with their game stepped up - and the dudes were very appreciative.

i know. i'm always complaining about not having photos, or something. but not for lack of trying! here are a couple flicks i haven't put up yet...

elliot garland and his ensemble = beasts. they had this amazing show on june 25th @ chris' jazz cafe, where the atmosphere is gorgeous and the drinks are fantastic. when elliot said "the best jazz faces in philly," he wasn't lying :-D

all that face-making makes a man tired.

no, but really, the ensemble was outstanding - it was almost like stepping into a different world. i definitely have to keep an eye on these guys and start going to more of their shows. i wish my camera hadn't died so i could've gotten shots of the collaboration AKiLLES did. jazz and hip-hops, interesting combination - i loved it.

i'm pretty sure i'm crazy for driving between philly and jersey so much, but i had to go to the blues festival over @ KC'S - my rockstar lover and his band were playing a set, and i needed to get there.

there are the boys, and we have...

corey small on the bass - he KILLS it...

randy "lightning hands" marinelli on drums -
ain't he adorable?

and my future rockstar husband,
johnny thompson, on lead and vocals.
NOM. he's on my birthday list. :-D

another hectic but fully satisfying couple of days in the life of Lily D. and now, a holiday! a time to relax, eat burgers, and take a break from all the par--

who's going to the MJ party @ the Piazza tonight?
