yesterday while doing a little cyber-footwork for the boss, i turned on the tube for a bit and came across a couple tom & jerry cartoons (from the fred quimby era, muitos beijos if you know who i mean). got me to thinking, what happened to all the old-style 2D cartoons we used to love from back in the day?
youtube happened to them.
remember this one? the little owl boy's name was Owl Jolson (a play on Al Jolson). there was a tad bit of controversy about this one for some reason, but i still love it, especially when the little owl makes that screwface while singing his parents' song.
call me a nerd, but when i was a little lily, i adored this cartoon. it's pretty abstract but teaches a good lesson, and is fun to watch. especially when the squiggle comes onscreen.
this is absolutely my favorite warner brothers' cartoon of all time. the musicianship and the timing of the animation are unparalleled by any other piece that came out in its time, and most hand-drawn pieces that come out now. i'm in awe of this one every time i see it; it's definitely one of my faves on youtube. and i know all the words, just like a good geek should!
this one just never ceases to make me laugh. tex avery cartoons make my day. and little red turns into a hot mama later! speaking of her...
i love little red's new york accent in this one. so funny.
little bit of wednesday treats for my sweets! catch ya'll tomorrow for throwback thursdays, when i clean out my photos and vids. beijos!
