i recently realized how far away we are from summer. my brain's aghast - how did we go from this...
to this - and so quickly?
sighface. i found all my pictures and videos from my adventures this summer, so i'm in reminisce mode. one of my favorite slow, hot afternoons was spent walking the south street area checking out all the brazilian festividades that were taking place in august. my favorite was hanging out on the steps near the dance school and listening to xande cruz and the batukis band. and, i think there were caipirinhas served, if i'm not mistaken (which were really, really good!).
i've never seen a band where the lead singer also plays percussão. that is pretty dope. i ended up going online later that night and trying to find out more about them, especially videos...
it's hard to find one that doesn't sacrifice sound or sight, but either way, in every video i've found, everyone's having muito divertimento.

i call her a pouca rainha da samba. ya'll better pick up these mini-portuguese lições i'm dropping on you (this means you, rashid!). i expect gifts on teacher appreciation day.
i'm definitely looking forward to the next time i can see xande and the band. i missed them when they performed at world cafe live. suuuuck!
