so tonight i'll be celebrating acquiring two new students :-D at the open mic @ 40th&walnut upstairs. last week was pretty big, lots of talent, and tactylics came through from new york city to see what i was up to :) so i'm hoping this tuesday will be even bigger. we shall see...

hayhayhay. i was so beat yesterday that i forgot to post Tuesday Tweets! now that i'm actually on twitter, i keep finding people saying the most hilarious stuff... twitter's a little dry on the humor flow today, so i'll hit it next week - but these three were funny.

so yesterday night was yet another open mic night @ Marathon Bar (40th & Walnut Streets).
honestly, every week it gets better and better. More Kale, Curly Castro, John F., Mr. McQn... i didn't know what to do with myself. and this one young lady seriously tore it down - i believe her name is Suzann Christine. she has the most beautiful voice - i gotta get some video on her! she ended up winning the opening spot for Sela on September 26th at the end of the night. i can't wait to see who's up next week...
so i was having trouble deciding on this week's Wednesday Treat, what with "A Night with AKiLLES & the OddiCY" coming up in three days.
you just can't find stuff like this anywhere, folks.
i'm excited for it, not only because it's going to be [undoubtedly] the hottest philly show of september (did i mention that DJ Phsh is going to be spinning that night?), but because one of my brothers - AND - my wifey are going to come all the way to philly for it.
that, and i'm going to be rocking the hottest dress. i'm so fyah. ;-D
this time's going to be pretty sweet, because anyone who came to the most recent brooklyn show gets in fo' free. and i'm looking forward to all that food that'll be flowing until midnight. don't be surprised if you show up and find yours tru-Lily stuffing her glamourous face with lil' foodies. ooh-wee.

i am actually handwriting this post ear-ly on a yellow legal pad, enjoying the scenic view from new england back to philly. it's finally stopped raining, the sky is as blue as my platform pumps. now that the torrential monsoon of a weekend is behind me, i am chipper enough to offer a prize to anyone who can dig up a photo of yours tru-Lily @ the Boston Start! Heart Walk looking like a drowned rat.
who knows? there may even be more than one. (glamorous, i know.)
the first person to e-mail the photo to misslilyofphilly@gmail.com wins a lunch date with the lady herself. i know, this is slightly john mayer-ish of me, but what can i say? i love the mystery. and i love the man (yum). i'd marry him and we'd go paintballing on our honeymoon.

man. i can't wait to see how my body reacts. for a while it seemed like i wasn't going to be affected - my internal clock is screwed anyway - but my being awake right now poses an interesting twist.
i'm actually pretty sleepy, but i'm so happy right now.
the men in my life are really something. i finally caught up with ja today, and to make up for having me wait so long for him, he took me to this gorgeous authentic mexican restaurant where i had THE most amazing carne asada (and horchata! mmmm...). while we were at the restaurant, he bought me a lily/rose bouquet, which smells heavenly, and after sketching me while i was writing, we went down to the marina, where i walked along the pacific ocean for the very first time.
all this was accompanied by nonstop conversation with many geeky references (family guy, futurama, various comics, random stuff from the ten years we've known each other), and even though we hadn't seen each other in four years, it's like we picked up right where we left off. i was so happy to see him today. best date ever!
i'll post pics of my gorgeous flowers and the awesome freehand sketch (which took all of two minutes, if that - i didn't even know he was drawing me) soon.
